Founder & CEO

Ricky Lee

With a deep-rooted passion for the arts and decades of experience in the entertainment
industry, Ricky Lee has carved out a dynamic career as both a producer and a creative force. In the 1990s, he founded Gladiator Records, forging powerful industry alliances with Interscope Records, Tommy Boy Records’ Tom Silverman, and Warner Bros. His work as a manager and producer led to collaborations with iconic artists, including the legendary hip-hop supergroup The Four Horsemen (HRSMN)—Canibus, Ras Kass, Kurupt, and Killah Priest.

Over the years, his influence has extended beyond music, shaping impactful experiences in film, storytelling, and mentorship. As the founder of Strike Star Entertainment, Ricky continues to push creative boundaries, bringing authentic stories to life. His commitment to education and talent development led to the launch of Strike Star’s Screenwriting Workshops in 2023—a charitable initiative created alongside his late business partner, Paul Eckstein. After Paul’s untimely passing that same year, Ricky ensured the program thrived in his honor, providing young, aspiring filmmakers with invaluable training in scriptwriting and production.

Now entering its third year, the 2025 Strike Star Screenwriting Workshop will take place June 3-4 in Kingston, Jamaica, at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts. The event will feature an impressive lineup of industry professionals, from directors and producers to top writers and executives, all dedicated to inspiring and mentoring the next generation of storytellers. Ricky Lee’s unwavering dedication to the arts continues to drive Strike Star Entertainment’s mission: to nurture talent, celebrate Jamaican culture, and produce powerful, meaningful content for a global audience. His vision, passion, and relentless pursuit of storytelling excellence create moments that leave a lasting impact—one project at a time.

Director, Producer and Screenwriter

Paul Eckstein

Paul Eckstein was a Brooklyn-born writer, producer, and actor. After graduating from Brown University with degrees in International Relations and Creative Writing, he immersed himself in New York City theater, where he was a founding member of the Naked Angels Theater Company and performed on Broadway, in Shakespeare in the Park, and at Minnesota’s Guthrie Theater.

Paul went on to act in television and film, making eight appearances on Star Trek.
As a film producer, he co-produced the MGM/UA film Hoodlum (1997), starring Laurence Fishburne and Andy Garcia. He was the co-creator of Godfather of Harlem (2019), starring Forest Whitaker and Giancarlo Esposito. Prior to that, Paul led the writer's room in the first season of the Netflix hit drama Narcos (2015). He also wrote and produced the Disney/ABC biblical epic Of Kings and Prophets (2016), filmed on location in South Africa. His other writing credits included Street Time (2002) (Showtime), Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2001) (NBC),
and The Dead Zone (2002) (USA).

Paul was also one of the original founders of Strike Star Entertainment, where he worked to develop impactful and diverse narratives. His vision for creating compelling stories and uplifting underrepresented voices shaped the company’s mission and influence. With great sadness, the world lost Paul in 2023 with his unexpected passing. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy endures through the stories he told and the many lives he touched. Beyond creating shows that highlighted history, high stakes, and stories from people of color,
Paul was deeply committed to mentoring and championing a new generation of diverse storytellers. His spirit lives on through Strike Star Entertainment and in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Paul will always be remembered and celebrated for his immense talent, generosity, and unwavering passion for storytelling.
